Wormers are vital medication used to control worm burdens in horses and ponies. Horses and ponies naturally have a low level of some species of parasitic worms living in their digestive tract, but these levels can be increased in certain animals or at certain times of year, and require control through the use of medication such as worming syringes. Other parasites such as tapeworm are more dangerous to horses’ health, and if present they must be treated using a particular wormer in the Spring and Autumn. Each syringe of wormer will treat one horse, or two small ponies.
